Personal Information:
Age: 44

Becky has been a devoted Christian since she was four years old. Professionally, Becky is an educator, having earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from Colorado State University in 2010; however, she is well-rounded apart from her work in mathematics, having also earned a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2004) and a second undergraduate degree in music from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD (2000).
Currently, although Becky is chomping at the bit to resume her passion for teaching in a university environment on a full-time basis, she is taking time away from the full-time classroom to nurture the development of our four wonderful children. She indulges her passion for teaching by serving as an adjunct faculty member of Friends University's mathematics department.

Philosophy of Ministry:

It is my desire to foster and encourage a church environment in which: 1) prayer is recognized as essential and powerful; 2) Christians will desire to witness about Jesus and be involved in and supportive of missional activities at home and abroad; 3) non-Christians will hear the gospel, be urged to accept Jesus as their Lord, and be given opportunity to respond to God’s working in their lives; 4) all people feel the freedom to repent from sin and turn to Christ with the encouragement of the church; and 5) Christians may worship the Lord earnestly and be given opportunities and assistance in maturing their faith.

Civic/Community Involvement:
As a husband and father of four young children, there is precious little time to be involved in the community outside the church.  I served on the convening committee that formed the Douglass Community Foundation, and I continue to serve on the DCF Board of Directors.  I have long enjoyed playing the tuba, and playing with a community band affords me the opportunity to enjoy this passion as well as to meet and interact with lost people and others from outside of my church.
Hobbies and/or Other Special Interests and Abilities:
Tuba performance – I have played the tuba for 30 years and have enjoyed being a performer with various ensembles and a private brass instructor for many individuals and school districts in Arkansas, Texas, and Colorado.
Reading – I enjoy reading theological literature as a means for continued academic and personal development as well as a variety of other books with an affinity toward the history of World War II, biographies, and various genres of fiction.
Hymnology – I enjoy studying the context and theology of hymns and spiritual songs. I have occasionally applied this passion by composing song texts as a complement to my sermons. I recognize the worth of all Christian music, aged and modern, for worship.
